Budget

The Municipality of Brockton is responsible for managing and investing your tax dollars to meet the needs of the community.

Each year Council approves a budget that is split into two central areas:

  1. Capital - This budget covers municipal projects related to new assets or rehabilitating existing assets, including roads, sewers, parks, facilities such as the arena and library, stormwater management infrastructure, equipment replacements and more.

  2. Operating - This budget covers the day-to-day operations of the Municipality and funds such municipal services and programs as snow removal, sewer maintenance, fire protection services, by-law enforcement, economic development, road maintenance and repair, and parks and recreation programming.

Council held Special Council Meetings to consider the 2025 Municipal Budget on Monday, January 13, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. and Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. These meetings will be held in hybrid format at the Bruce County Council Chambers (30 Park Street, Walkerton) and electronically on Zoom/livestreamed on the Municipality's website via eSCRIBE.

On Tuesday, February 11, 2025 the Council of the Municipality of Brockton adopted the 2025 Municipal Budget with a tax rate of $4.17% and a total levy of $13,283,911.00 resulting in an average household increase of $109.32/yearly and $9.11/monthly.

The Municipality of Brockton tax levy of $13,283,911.00 was used to finance the Operating and Capital Budgets for 2025.  

The 2025 Operating and Capital Budgets were approved by Council on February 11, 2025. The budget document will be posted to our website shortly.
