Property Standards

The Municipality of Brockton's Property Standards By-Law 2018-057 prescribes standards for the maintenance and occupancy of property within the Municipality. These standards are put in place to protect the health and safety of occupants and the general public and are investigated by a Property Standards Officer in accordance with the By-Law Enforcement Policy. 

All property owners, including those of residential rental properties, non-residential properties and vacant land, are responsible for ensuring their properties are repaired and maintained in accordance with these standards.

1. Notify your landlord or property owner in writing, detailing deficiencies, maintenance, or repair concerns.
2. Keep a copy of all correspondence for your records.
3. Allow a reasonable amount of time for the landlord to address the issues.
4. If the problem persists, you may submit a complaint form to the Property Standards Officer or contact 519-881-2223 for additional assistance.
