Disclosure of Gifts or Benefits
The Municipality of Brockton's Council Code of Conduct establishes a general standard to ensure that all Members of Council and Board Member share a common basis for acceptable conduct, and to which all Members are expected to adhere to and comply with. Section 7 of the Council Code of Conduct outlines the procedures associated with Members receiving gifts, benefits or hospitality which risk the appearance of improper influence.
Gifts may improperly induce influence or create an incentive for a Member to make decisions on the basis of relationships rather than in the best interests of the Municipality. A Member shall not accept any gift
connected directly or indirectly with the performance of his or her duties unless specific exemptions apply.
The Municipality maintains a public registry of all disclosure statements for gifts or benefits as per Appendix A to the Council Code of Conduct.
