Rzone Policy "Respect and Responsibility"

The Municipality of Brockton has a zero-tolerance policy for violence, vandalism and inappropriate behaviour of participants and the public at recreation facilities, community centres, parks and programs.

Rzone is a zero tolerance policy that applies to all Municipality of Brockton facilities, including community centres, parks, recreational facilities and programs. The Rzone policy enforces zero tolerance of violence, vandalism and inappropriate behaviour.

The 'R' stands for Respect and Responsibility.

  • Respect for yourself
  • Respect for others
  • Responsibility for your actions

The goal of the Rzone policy is to improve safety and reinforce respect and responsibility in all municipal facilities and programs - including community centres, parks and recreational facilities. Community organizations, residents, visitors and municipal staff will work together to promote Rzone values - improving the safety, appearance and environment of our community.

  • Clean-up after your groups activities and sports tournaments at Brockton parks.
  • Remember to respect property, materials and equipment when using services or participating in programs at our municipal community centre, parks and pavilions.
  • Report such items as graffiti, broken glass or burnt out lights in any municipal facility or park.
  • Report vandalism, such as a park bench that been damaged or playground equipment that has been tampered with.
  • Report suspicious behaviour, such as a person peeking into parked cars.
  • Report activities, such as verbal assaults, threats/aggression, physical harm, alcohol or drug consumption, theft and harassment.

No. The Rzone policy applies to all community organizations and individuals using Municipality of Brockton facilities, including community centres, parks and recreational facilities.

For best and timely solutions, incidents should be reported within 24 hours.

If you are involved or have witnessed a situation in a municipal 'indoor' facility you can report it to a staff member. With your assistance they will complete the report. When a situation occurs at an 'outdoor' facility with no staff present, if a community organization is involved, advise them directly so they can report it.

Otherwise you can file an Incident Report and send to the Brockton Parks & Recreation Department via email

Yes, in accordance with the Municipalities privacy information policy.

Whether reported in person, through an organization or online the report will be logged by municipal staff and will either be dealt with directly by the Municipality of Brockton or forwarded on the appropriate group/organization for follow-up.

The intent of the Rzone policy is that each organization takes responsibility for situations created by or that affect their participants in cooperation with the Municipality of Brockton. In some cases, the Municipality may take the lead role, while in other cases it will be the community group or organization.

Each report will be reviewed on an individual basis. The nature and degree of discipline will be determined by the severity of the situation.
