The 2024 Master Servicing Plan for the Town of Walkerton identified the need for a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA) to investigate options for improving fire flows and pressures in the South Pressure Zone of the community of Walkerton. The Master Plan recommended evaluating the Wallace Street Standpipe and existing booster station and the potential for a new standpipe in Development Areas.

Notice of Study Commencement- Water Storage Facility

The Municipality of Brockton and Veolia Water Canada entered into a five (5) year fixed fee Services Agreement which details the responsibilities of both parties for the operation, maintenance and management of the municipality's water and wastewater facilities. The agreement was extended on November 10, 2020 as per By-Law 2020-128 until June 30, 2026.

If you are on a Brockton municipal water system, you may experience water releasing from the T&P (temperature and pressure) relief valve on your hot water tank.  This can be caused by either high water temperature or high water pressure.  The Municipality of Brockton has a program to provide some assistance with this problem.

The criteria for this program is outlined in By-Law 2015-043 - Amendment to By-Law 2011-08:

  • The owner contacts a plumber to install the tank
  • The owner covers the cost for the materials and labour for the installation
  • The installing plumber is approved by the Municipality
  • The installing plumber invoices the Municipality directly for the Thermal Expansion Tank

The Municipality will only cover the initial cost for a PH5 Thermal expansion tank up to $50. Any subsequent replacements, or repairs, to the initial Thermal Expansion Tank will be at the expense of the owner. Any replacement, or repairs, to the Pressure Reducing Valves installed by the Municipality during the initial installation of water meters, is to be at the expense of the owner.

There are a number of properties on Brockton Water Services that are identified as frostline properties. This means that water service lines are laying within the frostline and are prone to freezing in the winter months.

Every year frostline property owners are asked to leave a tap running with a slow stream of water at all times from December 1 to March 31 to avoid freezing. Frostline properties are not billed for this extra water consumption from December 1 to March 31 and are instead billed based on average consumption in October and November.

Brockton's Water and Wastewater System Financial Plan meets the requirements of Ontario Regulation 453/07 Financial Plans, under the Safe Drinking Water Act (2002):
