At the December 10, 2024, Council Meeting, Brockton Council approved proceeding with Development Charges, granting both the first and second readings to the related By-Law. The decision marks an important step in the development process for the community.

The final consideration of the By-Law will take place at the upcoming Council Meeting on January 14, 2025. 


Our Building Officials work with builders and owners to ensure building codes are met to make sure that every structure built in Brockton is built safely.

We must approve plans for any new structure, addition or renovation. A Building Permit is your formal permission to start construction or demolition.

The building permit process protects the interests of homeowners and the community, ensuring that new structures and structural changes are safe, legal and sound.

In Brockton, our Building Officials:

  • Review and approve Building Permits
  • Answer zoning inquiries
  • Ensure that building permit applications comply with current zoning regulations
  • Enforce Brockton's building and property standards by-laws

In Bruce County, municipal planning services are provided by Planning staff with the County of Bruce.
